A race against the algorithm
A publication that discusses how social media algorithms can be harmful for creators. Social media platforms have become a lot less social these days. In order to reach your followers you need to post on a daily basis. Posting every single day as a creator (graphic designer, illustrator, painter...) is difficult as you have to make content from scratch, it's hard to keep up with the algorithm. A solution for this could be algorithm generated art. This way you get maximum output for minimal input. You could post multiple times a day without a worry. This method seems good in theory, however not all art pieces are of good quality. This simulates how posts on social media don't necessarily need to be good in order to receive interaction. Likes, shares or comments don't decide the worth of you work.
I put the theory to the test by posting the algorithm art pieces on Instagram @race_against_the_algorithm
